Friday rolls around once again like a sip of sweet wine on the palate.  Venus is in the fourth house of Cancer today, the house associated with the home, sometimes the mother, nurturing, unconditional love.  So it's a good day to indulge yourself.  Have a nice long candlelit bubble bath with a good book with some strawberries and champagne on the side.  Nurture yourself and your emotions.  Relax and feel love in the sanctuary that is your home.

To aid in your self nurturing, love and indulgence, call Aphrodite into your heart.  Take a few deep breaths and open your heart to Her......

Beautiful Aphrodite
Gracious Golden One
She of the Sea and Tides
Lady of Love and Flowers
Be in our hearts this day
Touch our hearts and souls
With the golden light of Your love
Hold us in Your loving embrace
Nurture us as we nurture ourselves
Bring forth within us enduring self-love
Aphrodite Ourania allow us to shine like stars
That we may be a guiding lamp for others who need and seek Your loving light
Be with us today as always
We breathe Your love and energy in
Hail and welcome into our hearts Aphrodite

Enjoy this beautiful golden day!

Today I felt there was no better way to honour Aphrodite's Day than to spend time with Her at the British Museum, one of my favourite places in the whole wide world.

There are quite a lot of Aphrodite statues and artifacts there, but the one that draws the most attention:-

There was also this statue of Venus (but I say it's Aphrodite since it is a copy of a Greek statue) which is in the same location as the one above:-

It was a very busy day at the Museum and lots of people were taking pictures of the main Aphrodite statue (the first picture).  It was a strange situation because I wanted to kneel before Her, make offerings, say prayers, talk to Her and yet couldn't given the circumstances.  So I did the only thing I could do: stand there and cry.  I then sat down, powdered my nose, re-applied my lipstick (because I felt Aphrodite would be a-ok with this) and then proceeded to stand up and cry all over again.  I'm sure people thought I was mad.

More pictures of Aphrodite and some of the other Greek artifacts are on Flickr here:

Beltane Blessings

Not a Greek festival by any stretch of the imagination, but nevertheless, I find it another excuse to celebrate Aphrodite, so Happy Beltane to all!

I just this evening returned from my beloved Glastonbury where I helped to host the Goddess Temple's Beltane ceremony last night.  It was a terrific time and love was definitely in the air!  It was only appropriate given it was Aphrodite's Day!

While I was there, I visited one of my favourite shops, Venus.

And here's one of the main reasons I go in - this beautiful altar to Venus/Aphrodite with a garden sized statue.

And occasionally I buy things from them too.  :)  They're a great shop.  And if you can't get to Glastonbury to visit them in person, see them on the web:

Have a beautiful Beltane!
